Nice Bootie

20111111-124117.jpgI really hate cold weather (I may have mentioned that once or twice…), but somehow I have grown a very VERY fond affection for the styles and trends that surround the season that celebrates falling flakes of icy snow and frigid Midwest temperatures. Sweaters, scarves, and my latest obsession: the ogle worthy wedge ankle bootie, as perfectly matched for skinny jeans as they are for wide leg flares. Magical.

Working in the fashion industry, I see more of a boot selection than even Kourtney Kardashian could lay claim to on a day to day basis. It leads to a fair amount of daydreaming and wishlist creating, I must confess every time I see a new buckle or leather hue. I obsess over Frye for its obvious quality and timeless class, Rag and Bone for their ability to capture the latest fashion trends and create footwear to complement…and on goes the list as the snowflakes fly. Desperate to get into a pair of covetable little ankle bootie cuties before winter falls all over my sidewalk, I did a little budget friendly shopping for some instant gratification and I could not possibly be more supercharged with my find.

Call It Spring, a child brand to its parent line Aldo, has produced a wedge bootie that is as exciting to put on my feet as it is to look at. Standing a 4 1/2” mile high, the 1 ½” platform toe keeps my ankle in just the right position shifting the bulk of my weight from the ball of my foot to the heel. Oh my God, did I just wear these for a 9 hour shift in the boutique standing on my feet? Yes, yes I did, and my feet still feel GREAT!! The heel has a touch of visual interest with a flannel inset in charcoal grey, while the rest of the bootie, wedge included, is covered completely with a vegan friendly faux leather that looks soft and brilliant. Hands down the best black wedge bootie I have found for $50. I am so beyond impressed.

I love them with my skinny jeans, I love them with my winter dresses and tights, I love them with my super flare jeans, I just love them. Nice bootie…seriously.
