Kimberlee’s Pick of the Week: I Heart Henleys

20111216-082515.jpgWhen I was little, my Mom called them long johns, and I loved them like crazy. Today, I call them thermal henleys, and I love them like crazy. The waffle weave texture adds a touch of extra warmth while the soft cottony goodness is as cozy as my favorite pj’s. Some things are just timeless.

My new favorite t-shirt for Winter is the thermal waffle weave Henley. I’m stocking up in all of my favorite hues, and wearing them under sweaters, under long sleeve button ups, and on their own with skinnies and boots. There is something about the way the fabric is designed to love the body that makes me feel completely feminine, while the vintage long john element makes me feel outrageously edgy and a little bit daring. It is a great alternative to the basic long sleeve t-shirt, and adds an entirely new bit of interest to a layered wardrobe. I adore everything about the thermal henley, and here are a handful of my favorites!

Splendid Thermal Henley in Truffle:

I love the extra length at the hem, and the variation in texture with the smooth jersey cuff. Exuberantly cool.

Victoria’s Secret Cotton Thermal Henley Sweater:

Basic and beautiful, and I love the slightly darker contrast stitching.

J Crew Vintage Thermal Henley in Stripe:

Adorable, covetable and softer than a dream in ring spun cotton. The stripes are soooo beyond. Love.

Madewell Holiday Henley Sweater: (Pictured at top)
Take everything I just said I loved about thermal henleys, and add in a superfine alpaca and merino wool blend…amazing. Totally.

  1. I love cheap but cute outfits! I’m sure the boots and the blzear will make the outfit even more fabulous. I went to H&M over the weekend but came out with nothing. I can’t seem to find much at places like H&M or F21, but I always see bloggers with really cute and inexpensive finds from those places. Lately all of my bargain finds have been coming unexpectedly from Old Navy!

    • Nice!! Old Navy is a forgotten gem! F21 can be hit or miss for me. H&M is all or nothing- I want it all or can’t find a thing. I should revisit Old Navy! Thanks for the reminder and have a great day!
