Kimberlee’s Fashionable Forecast for Spring 2011

Another holiday season has come and gone, and as we eagerly watched the release of the larger than life shimmering ball in Times Square on December 31st , the moment marked much more than just the closure of 2010.  It also opened the doorway leading straight into the beginning of 2011 and everything that it means in the land of fashion.  Bright new color palettes, fabrics, trends, and loves have begun to bloom before our very eyes and will continue to blossom over the coming months as we shovel our way out of our 6 foot high forts carved out of the drifts of snow that have made homes in our driveways, and straight into the land of beautiful.  As the ethereal essence of beautiful fashion floats down the runways on goddess like creatures, do not feel intimidated.  The Spring 2011 collections sincerely command (and deserve) attention, but for real world style they require merely a bit of understanding and respect, and should serve as your inspiration as you replenish your warmer weather wardrobe.

Highly Recommended Trends for 2011

The 70’s have returned bringing powerful bell bottoms with a higher waistline, bold colors paired against browns, and halter style necklines.  Everything authentically perfect about the Age of Aquarius.

Color marriages of a new variety will bring new life to our wardrobes with shots of brilliant color against complementary brilliant color.  Combinations of oranges and teals or purples and blues are bold, but harmoniously seem to make beautiful sense together.

Patterns will continue to decorate our wardrobes, in a BIG way.  Animal prints, geometrics, and even whimsy will add creative expressions to our 2011 style.

Color being one of the primary elements in creating the collections of 2011, the palettes are perfectly rich and bold with just the right amount of earth tone to ground the sky’s the limit imagination factor that has been infused.

Look for pinks (particularly one I call Sweetheart Pink…just a hint of a red undertone), bright orange, chartreuse shades of yellow, aqua, navy, rust, a flurry of earth tones, and white.

Closing my eyes and opening my mind to the inspiration that radiates from the collections before me, I have assembled a bevy of selections that fall in line perfectly with the runway yet are perfectly wearable (and perfectly affordable) for the real world.
