Let’s face it, the hot summer sun can be brutal on our lips and do it yourself recipes for natural products are a must. One of my favorite friends, Andria Kern, sent me this beauty tip and do it yourself tutorial for a natural lip exfoliator from Salon O Organic day Spa in Austin, TX. It is a simple recipe that calls for only four ingredients and can be made in under 10 minutes. It is a great recipe for a natural lip care remedy that could also be used as a hostess gift, birthday present or can a fun gifting option for a bridal party. Plus, you will get a quick lesson from the pros on the benefits of these particular ingredients. Now THAT is a Sugar Lips Lifestyle Tip! Thanks Andria!
What You Need
1 tsp of coconut oil
1 tsp of raw honey
1.5 – 2 TB of raw/granulated sugar mixed
A squeeze of fresh lemon juice.
What To Do
Mix these ingredients together to make a sugary paste. Use a soft bristle toothbrush or finger to dippy-dip into the scrub. Use soft circular motions across your lips. Rinse with water and apply your favorite lip balm afterward for soft, silky lips. Don’t worry if you happen to taste it – it’s absolutely delicious! Now tell me those SUGAR LIPS aren’t beggin’ to be kissed!
Why These Ingredients?
- Coconut Oil =Vitamin E & K, polyphenols are anti aging, fatty acids that moisturize without breakouts
- Raw Honey = natural antibacterial, amino acids that moisturize. Raw is better because it hasn’t lost it’s healing properties.
- Raw Sugar = produces glycolic acid/alpha hydroxy which exfoliates and stimulates collagen production
- Anti-Aging Lemon Juice = Vitamin C & citric acid brighten skin, scars, and exfoliates.
Word To The Wise
WARNING: Rub at your own risk – Don’t go scrub happy or you can damage your delicate skin. Avoid sun exposure because of the natural acids in the mask. Any leftovers should be stored in the fridge.
